It is known that the prosecution secured evidence that Samsung tried to lobby the National Pension Service in advance of the merger of Samsung C&T and Cheil Industries five years ago. The prosecution suspected that the judges were in the lobby against the judges who decided whether or not to approve the merger, and the background was directed by Vice Chairman Jae-Yong Lee. That will also be the issue at Vice Chairman Lee Jae-yong's arrest warrant next Monday.

At the time of Samsung C&T's merger with Cheil Industries in 2015, the National Pension Service was the largest shareholder with an 11% stake in Samsung C&T Corporation. On July 10 of that year, the National Pension, which had to decide whether to approve of the merger, decided to approve the merger by opening only the internal investment committee, not the expert committee for exercising voting rights, which included external experts.

It is estimated that in favor of the merger, undervalued by Samsung C&T Corporation, the largest shareholder, the national pension, suffered losses ranging from 100 billion won to 100 billion won.

The prosecution is said to have captured the situation in which the Samsung side lobbied investors inside the National Pension Service to draw votes.

It was reported that the prosecution secured the internal documents containing the circumstances in which Samsung officials were responsible for each committee member's position after investigating the committee's inclination and school of origin.

As a result of the investigation by the National Agricultural Research Service, Hong Wan-seon was sentenced to death in the first and second trials for allegedly exerting pressure to approve the merger at the time of the National Pension Fund Operation Headquarters.

Prosecutors suspect the group's attempted organizational lobbying was directed by Vice Chairman Jae-Yong Lee.

Prosecutors will present these evidence at the warrant screening on the 8th and will emphasize the inevitable arrest of the vice president.

In response, Samsung responded, "It has nothing to do with the allegations of the warrant, and it has nothing to do with this vice chairman at all."
