IFA will finally be fine in September, but the public will not be invited - Geeko

Since the beginning of the year, many events have been canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic and the inability to ensure the safety of participants. Some were still maintained, but only online. This is particularly the case for the annual Apple keynote to be held in June, but also for the Gamescom 2020 which will take place in August. Others preferred to maintain their annual meeting in their traditional form, even if it meant putting in place some restrictions.

This is particularly the case for IFA Berlin, the largest technology fair in Europe. The meeting of the technophiles had however been canceled last April, because of the epidemic and the measures taken by the German government to fight against the spread of the virus. But the organizers of the IFA had assured that an alternative would be set up. It is now official, the IFA will take place from September 3 to 5 and in “physical version”, but its access will be limited to professionals. Last year, the event attracted over 250,000 visitors.

In small groups

The organizers of the show also specified that the conferences will only be accessible by invitation and divided into 4 events each limited to 1000 participants. For the moment, there is still no question of a possible retransmission of the conferences online.

The organizers said they were working closely with local health authorities to ensure that "social distance, careful crowd control and other effective public health measures are in place". "After all the event cancellations in the past few months, our industry urgently needs a platform where it can showcase its innovation, so that it can recover and bounce back," insisted Jens Heithecker, member of the organization of the event.

This year, the speech of the show will be delivered by the leader of Qualcomm, Cristiano Amon.
