WhatsApp is testing a feature where users can add new contacts using a QR code. That reports WABetainfo , which more often publishes beta functions of WhatsApp, Thursday.
This should make it easier for users to add contacts to their phone. The feature is currently only available in the beta version of WhatsApp for iOS and Android.
Those who have the latest beta version can find the function in the settings of the app. There, users can choose to display their own QR code or scan others' code.
According to WABetaInfo , the QR codes can be changed and withdrawn. If users accidentally share a QR code with someone they don't want their phone number to use, they can reset their personal code. As a result, the code that has been shared no longer works.
It is not known when WhatsApp makes the QR codes available to all users.
