PS Now now has more than 2 million subscribers - Geeko

In the space of a year, Sony's PS Now has gained nearly 1.2 million subscribers. A major progression for the Sony platform, which had had a difficult start with a subscription price which was considered too high at launch. Last October, the Japanese firm lowered its prices from 14.99 euros to 9.99 euros per month.

Sony has also reviewed its strategy by integrating more blockbusters into its offer and more often by offering newer games, like Spiderman and God of War .

This new strategy now seems to be working since in the space of a year, Sony has more than doubled its subscriptions.

Sony still has to catch up on its direct competitors, however. Last November, Electronic Arts claimed more than 5 million subscribers to its Origin Access platform. Microsoft's GamePass offer today totals more than 10 million subscribers on Xbox and PC. The delay accumulated by Sony is therefore significant.

The battle of the titans

If Sony invests more in its platform, the competition is very aggressive. Microsoft, for example, has chosen to integrate all of its own day-one productions into its offer. Concretely, all games from Microsoft studios are integrated into the monthly GamePass offer as soon as they are released. A very effective selling point for the platform, which has already welcomed the latest Forza Horizon and Gears of War .

For its part, Sony plays more the backward compatibility card in its offer. PS Now is the only way to rediscover the classics of PS3 and PS2 on PS4.
