A popular free alternative to Office, Google Docs continues to offer far fewer features than its rival and suffers from some usage limitations, especially when it comes to working offline.
Many ignore it, but it is still possible to continue working on a Sheets, Slides or Docs document offline, provided you use the Google Chrome browser.
By means of an extension, it is possible to activate an offline function.
Download the extension
To do this, you will have to go to the page of the said extension and install it on your computer.
Synchronize data on your machine
Once done, launch Chrome and verify that you are signed in with your account. Access Google Drive via this link, and check the box "Synchronize Google Docs, Sheets, Slides and Drawings files on this computer to be able to edit them offline".
You can also choose to synchronize only certain documents by right-clicking on them - and clicking on "make available offline". You are now able to work offline on your Google Docs!
