Sony has sold more than 110 million PS4 - Geeko

The coronavirus epidemic did not seem to have had much impact on the activities of Sony, which managed to sell more than 13.6 million PS4s in the last fiscal year. A figure in sharp decline compared to 2018/2019, the year in which Sony had sold more than 17.8 million consoles, but which is justified by the end of the machine cycle. At the end of the year, it will be replaced in stores by the new PS5.

Sony has officially crossed the milestone of 110 million PS4 sold worldwide. It is way ahead of its rival Xbox One on this generation, which has painfully crossed the 50 million sales mark, and is doing very much better than its predecessor, the PS3, which had only passed 87 million units at the end of the cycle. Sales of the PS4 have now also surpassed that of the PSOne, sold at more than 102 million units. However, the PS2 remains the best-selling console to date, with its total of 155 million machines sold worldwide.

An insolent success

Overall, Sony Interactive Entertainment is doing well, very well even since the company recorded an operating profit of 2 billion euros over the fiscal year which has just ended. Sony sold 244.9 million PS4 games over the entire fiscal year. The number of subscribers to PS Plus, mandatory to play online, has increased to 41.5 million.

If sales are expected to drop by the time the PS5 is released, Sony will attack the next generation with confidence. He should reveal more on his next console very soon.
