Twitch to offer talk shows and dating shows - Geeko

The streaming giant aims to compete with YouTube with new formats that could potentially appeal to a much wider audience. Twitch would be willing to spend astronomical amounts to attract new audiences. The Amazon platform is said to have asked several production companies to pitch ideas. Talk shows and dating shows would top the concepts that would have seduced the platform.

According to Bloomberg, Twitch is looking for unscripted show concepts that would be performed live. Gamers - the core activity of the platform - would occupy a central place, but this new approach would make it possible to seek a new audience. In addition to dating shows and talk shows, Twitch aims to create sports shows as well.

An undeniable success

Focused on 18-24 year olds, the programs would always target a male audience as a priority. But not only. During the confinement, many artists and musicians attempted live on the streaming platform, with sometimes surprising results. More and more journalists are also using the platform to conduct live interviews.

Launched in 2011, the platform experienced a meteoric rise until it was bought by Amazon, which today uses it as a gateway to infiltrate the gaming sector. Twitch has become the benchmark platform for game streamers and esports competitions.
