An earthquake of magnitude 3.1 occurred at 10:07 last night at 21 km northwest of Haenam-gun, Jeollanam-do.

This earthquake detected a tremor of maximum magnitude 3 in Jeonnam.

This is the second-largest earthquake this year, after Jangju in Gyeongbuk last January.

There were a total of 50 earthquakes in the area, including the micro Earthquake, for 9 days from the 26th to the last month.

Small earthquakes of magnitude 2 or less occur about 1,000 times each year, and it is rare to concentrate on such areas.

[Unam Chul / Meteorological Agency, Earthquake Specialist: It has been quite unusual for

earthquakes to occur more than 40 times at a single point since 1978.] The site of the earthquake was originally the sea, but has been used as a farmland since reclamation in 2017. .

The Korea Meteorological Administration said the earthquake was very deep at 21 km in the ground, so it was considered to have a low relationship with the reclamation project.
