This fire-fighting helicopter crashed today at around noon, at a point 400-500m from Cheonwangbong Peak in Jirisan, Sancheong-gun, Gyeongsangnam-do, toward the area of ​​Beopgyesa.


The accident helicopter floated low to 15m above the ground and stopped, while the 65-year-old Jo Mo, a patient with a cardiac arrest, was carried on a patient stretcher and suddenly lowered in altitude.

Mr. Kwon's wife, 61-year-old Kwon, who was on the ground, was injured by a helicopter main wing during this process.

The couple were transferred to the hospital with additional dispatched helicopters, but were killed.

It was reported that five people, including the captain, mechanic, and rescue personnel in the helicopter, were not injured because the height of the fall was not high.

The crashed helicopter was the S76B, which has operated since 1992.

The Gyeongnam Firefighting Headquarters has been leasing and used since September of last year, and it will be replaced by a new helicopter in 2022.

Government authorities, such as firefighting, control some of the trails near Cheonwangbong in Jirisan and investigate the exact cause of the accident along with the incident.
