Yesterday (29th) It is said that urethane foam and sandwich panels, which are frequently used in frozen warehouses, caused more damage. It is presumed that the vapor from the urethane foam is the cause of the first explosion in the second floor underground.

1:30 pm yesterday, the fire that started at the construction site of a new warehouse in Icheon, Gyeonggi-do, went out after 5 hours.

At the time, it was reported that 78 workers from 9 companies were on the job, and it has been identified as 38 deaths and 10 injuries to date.

The dead were found in all four stories above the ground, two stories underground, and particularly on the second floor, nearly 18 people were killed.

It is estimated that the explosion was so great that the workers spread inside the building when the fire spread in a flash, and the workers who could not escape were killed.

[Escape worker: The smoke came in within 30 seconds, within 30 seconds. I can't see (eyes), but I have to live on the stairs. Because it is roughly bent like this, I have only bent three or four times.]

Police and fire departments believe that the fire started on the second basement level where they were working on urethane.

[Seung-Hyun Seo / Governor of Icheon Fire Department: Presumably, due to urethane work, there was an explosion. In the case of the ground floor, it is estimated that the poisonous gas has risen and collapsed.]

The fire department reportedly confirmed all of the 78 workers on the scene except the casualties, but the search for life continued overnight.

The police set up an investigation headquarters centered on the Gyeonggi Nambu Office and began investigating the cause of the fire.
