The parental leave allowance of 'one-parent officials' who raise their children alone without a spouse will increase by up to one million won a month from July.

The Ministry of Human Resources and Innovation announced on the 28th that it would enact legislation to revise the 'Amendment to Regulations on Civil Service Allowances'.

The revised bill raises the infant leave allowance paid by a single-parent official during the first three months of parental leave from 80% to 100% of the monthly salary. It contains the contents.

Once the amendment is implemented, single-parent officials will be able to receive parental leave benefits at the same level as private sector workers.

Earlier, on the 31st of last month, the Ministry of Employment and Labor raised the wages of single parent workers during the first three months of parental leave from 80% to 100% of the normal wage and the upper limit from 1.5 million won per month to 2.5 million won per month.

Parental leave allowances increase after the fourth month of parental leave.

According to the revised bill, 80% of the monthly salary (up to 1.5 million won) is paid in the 4th to 6th month of parental leave, and 50% of the monthly salary (up to 1.2 million won) is paid in the 7th to 12th month.

Previously, for the 4th to 12th month of parental leave, 50% of the monthly salary was paid in bulk, but the upper limit of the allowance was limited to 1.2 million won.

It is expected that the amendment will be implemented in July after the legislative notice on the 29th, after reviewing the legislative branch and the resolution of the State Council.

Hwang Seo-jong, director of human resources, said, "To reduce the economic burden of single-parent officials so that parental leave can be used stably." The government will continue to support work-family balance as a 'best employer.'
