VPN applications are used to secure your Internet connection. But it is advisable to be particularly vigilant when choosing your server. The "SuperVPN Free VPN Client" application, available on the Google Play Store, actually had a major security flaw, reports the VPNPro site and relayed by Presse-Citron .

An update was made by the VPNPro site. The flaw authorized critical attacks of the man-in-the-middle (MITM) type, a hacking technique consisting in intercepting encrypted exchanges between two people or two computers, without their knowledge. The objective is of course to spy on communications, even to recover data.

The app quickly removed from the Play Store

"We have worked with Google to contact SuperSoftTech [the official developer of the application] so that they can resolve the issue and hopefully fix it. Unfortunately, that turned out to be impossible, ”specifies VPNPro.

Very popular with users, this free app recorded nearly 100 million downloads on the Google online store. It was removed from the Play Store on April 7, shortly after VPNPro was reported.

Today, the faulty application is no longer downloadable online. But vigilance remains essential for the millions of users who have installed it on their smartphones.
