Seoul City distributes 10 billion won in taxes every year as scholarships to students. However, it was confirmed that there were cases where people who messed up the documents and, in severe cases, didn't pay at least 2 million won and 3 million won. The city of Seoul said it was a simple mistake, not someone who asked for it.

This is a report by Im Tae-woo.

The Seoul Scholarship Foundation was established in 2010 by the Seoul Metropolitan Government. In 2018, we launched a project called 'Seoul Hope Public Interest Scholarship'.

This project selects 50 college students who are interested in social activities and pays 3 million won each.

The screening process should be based on the screening documents provided by the applicants, but the procedure was ignored.

As a result of the recently announced audit by the Seoul Metropolitan Government, 7 out of 50 selected applicants submitted the wrong data, and 5 proved to be selected as scholarships even though they did not provide proof.

I made a scholarship even though I made a testimony about the 'voting encouragement' club activities made by my friends, or even published a pamphlet of the event.

[Seoul City Audit Officers: They may submit a pamphlet when I go to the event (instead of supporting documents), or there is a plan written by myself, 'I will do this in the volunteer work'… .]

This is not all. In 2016, the 'Global Talent Scholarship' project was also wrong.

It is a project that provides up to 2.5 million won to college students participating in public interest international exchange activities. Of the 21 selected, 5 were selected as scholarship students even though they had plans to study private language courses or take courses in foreign college seasons.

The Foundation acknowledged the mistake, but explained that it was giving the opportunity to a poor student due to the lack of applicants.

[Seoul Scholarship Foundation officials: (Family) I have a difficult group of friends who are going to do this, but can we stop all of this? When I interviewed the children, everything seems to be okay. .]

As a result of the audit, the City of Seoul reported that there were no denials such as solicitation during the selection process and `` warned '' related employees.
