“The main advice is not to use the alarm clock, especially in the current situation, because the person has practically no urgent matters, he does not need to run somewhere in the morning,” he told TASS.

Kalinkin advised bringing sleep to normal in such a way that waking was natural, and regular use of the alarm clock, especially a sound one, leads to chronic lack of sleep. This affects "not only the well-being and quality of life, but even the activity of the genome," he added.

The doctor emphasized that the duration of sleep also depends on resistance to viral infections.

“I can’t say that this refers to this type of coronavirus, which we are dealing with now, because it has a very large contagiousness - the probability of infection from other people ... But there is a dependency on other viruses of acute respiratory diseases: the risk of the disease is a person who sleeps for more than seven hours, compared to someone who sleeps less than five hours, is reduced by 250%, ”Kalinkin said.

Earlier, a member of the Russian Society of Somnologists Pavel Kudinov in an interview with NSN, assessed the effect of sleep on immunity.
