In Korea, yesterday (23rd), 76 patients per day increased, and the number of confirmed corona19 patients exceeded 9,000. In particular, about 30% of new confirmed patients stayed abroad yesterday. Eighteen of the 22 were confirmed to be infected after the rest of the country came from Europe to the Americas, and the government's quarantine method for immigrants has changed a bit today. Instead of an immediate diagnostic test for all immigrants from Europe, local asylum seekers are tested by local health centers.

Reporter Chan-Bum Park reports more about why.

The quarantine method, where quarantine authorities quarantined all European immigrants to airports or facilities until the results of the Corona 19 diagnostic test, was modified from today.

The gift box is the same as the existing method, but the gift box was moved to the home instead of the quarantine facility to conduct self-containment and to undergo a corona19 test at the local public health center within three days.

This is due to the fact that the lack of quarantine facilities increases the waiting time, which causes inconvenience for immigrants.

[French immigrants (entry yesterday): I got off the airport and stood for an hour with a carrier, I took the bus and waited for three hours.]

The quarantine facility for immigration inspection waiting for free will be converted to a bequest box only.

[Kwon Joon-wook / Director of National Health Research Institute: By doing so, we will do so to concentrate resources more efficiently and focus on the bequest box.]

As for the immigration support measures that were pointed out as excessive, it was concluded that the medical examination and treatment costs will continue to be supported, but not the living support costs.

[Taeho Yoon / Public Health Policy Officer, Ministry of Health and Welfare: In the case of living support costs, we do not support living support costs for self-isolation regardless of internal or foreign residents.]

The government explained that entry is an individual choice and that excessive support could have the side effect of influencing domestic influx.
