As the coronavirus continues to spread around the world, Google and Apple are taking action. The two companies announced that they had reorganized their application stores to limit the spread of "fake news" on the epidemic, reports Android Police, relayed by Clubic . Many applications with questionable legitimacy come out indeed since the arrival of the virus and take advantage of the fears and naivety of users.

Two different strategies

Faced with this phenomenon, Google has banned the terms "coronavirus", "corona" or "Covid-19" from the Google Play Store. These keywords now do not return any results. But by slightly modifying the search ("covid" or "covid19"), we always gain access to sometimes questionable applications on the subject, such as apps of health recommendations published by independent developers, unknown to the battalion and unofficial.

At the same time, the Mountain View company has decided to collect information on the coronavirus epidemic on one page. This highlights certified and legitimate applications, such as that of The Red Cross.

For its part, Apple has made a radical decision: all applications developed independently are banned. The App Store now only offers applications published by an official body. Currently, some unofficial apps have passed this filter and are still available on the platform. But the majority of the results, especially the first apps that appear in research, are those of governments and official health organizations.
