Smartphones running Android lose value faster than iPhones. Taking into account the devices sold at a price equivalent to 620 euros or more, Apple phones depreciate on average by 23% in the 12 months after their purchase, reports the specialized media Android Central .

This figure reaches 45% for Android terminals, which represents a drop in valuation close to that of iPhones after two years. To reach these conclusions, the specialist in second-hand mobile phones BankMyCell analyzed the resale prices of nearly 300 models on the second-hand smartphone market.

The study authors looked at data from several types of vendors. They observed almost twice as much depreciation among Android phones than among Apple brand models.

The difference is even more significant when Android smartphones are models sold for less than 310 euros. The phenomenon has advantages, however: fans of these phones can afford a terminal released one or two years ago, notes Android Central .

Experts also uncovered a variation in impairment losses depending on brands of the devices. Behind Apple, the phones that depreciate the least in the first year are the Nokia, then the Sony, HTC, Samsung and finally the BlackBerry. Conversely, the manufacturers who see the valuation of their mobiles decrease the most are Motorola, LG and Google.
