Bad guys in movies are not allowed to use an iPhone on camera by Apple, Knives Out director Rian Johnson explains in an interview with Vanity Fair . Only the good guys can be filmed with Apple products in their hands.
Johnson, director of The Last Jedi and others , spoke with Vanity Fair about his recent film Knives Out and told that Apple sets very specific conditions for the use of Apple products in feature films. "I don't know if I should tell this or not," he begins. "Apple lets you use iPhones in movies, but bad guys can't keep them in view."
He says that this knowledge can ruin crime films because viewers can use characters' phones to find out who the bad guy is in the film. "Any filmmaker with a secret villain in his film wants to get rid of me right now," says Johnson.
Johnson is an avid Apple user. He filmed a short film last year with only an iPhone 11 Pro.
Apple has not yet responded to Johnson's statements.
