If you have a PayPal account integrated with Google Pay, pay attention to your bank statements. Since this Friday, users of the online payment service have been victims of fraudulent payments, reports ZDnet relayed by BFMTV.

These payments out of nowhere are linked to a security breach that occurs when you integrate your Google Pay account with PayPal. Hackers have successfully transacted after stealing bank details. Unauthorized purchases therefore appear in PayPal history as originating from the victims' Google Pay account.

Mostly German victims

Several Internet users have published screenshots showing these fraudulent payments. On Twitter, a victim explains that three pairs of AirPods were purchased for $ 500 with his account. While most of the disputed purchases were made in the United States on the Target online store, the victims are mainly German. The damage is estimated at several tens of thousands of euros.

Reported a critical issue to PayPal ONE YEAR AGO.

"Not an issue. Please self-close". Lots of discussion. Finally got a bounty. Asked several times if its fixed. No response. Gave up.

Found that it's actively exploited by now. Sorry PP, you suck.https: //t.co/48IVszRqlb

The vulnerability is already known. On Twitter, a German cybersecurity researcher claims that in 2019, he contacted PayPal to alert him of a similar flaw. The online payment service never responded. According to ZDnet, which contacted PayPal on Monday, the American company has already solved the problem.
