Gyeonggi Province issued an urgent administrative order today (24th) and announced that it will prohibit all gatherings related to Shincheonji in all regions in the province for the next 14 days and will forcibly close 353 Shinchonji-related facilities in Gyeonggi-do.

Lee says he respects freedom of religion, but says he needs a different response to prevent the spread of infection and keep citizens safe.

[Lee Jae-myung / Gyeonggi-do Governor: We need to mobilize available resources and capabilities to go beyond a specific infectious agent tracking system to scan the net of potential danger areas.]

The initiation of this executive order is in accordance with current legislation that restricts entry, restrictions on movement and assembly to prevent infectious diseases.

Gyeonggi Province said that many of the addresses of 293 facilities received from the Sincheon district were different from the facts of the field survey.

Therefore, through self-investigations and reports, it secured a list of 353 suspected new earth facilities and entered the closure measures.

Governor Lee Jae-myung demanded an accurate list of church members in the province and stressed that he would use administrative power if he did not cooperate.

[Lee, Jae-Myung / Governor of Gyeonggi-do: I hope that no situation will be brought into force to secure the list.]

The governor said half of the members of Gyeonggi-do who attended the Shincheonji Daegu rally refused to be diagnosed and 20 percent of them confirmed.

Strong measures in Gyeonggi-do are likely to affect other local governments.
