HQ Trivia bows out - Geeko

Formerly very popular, the HQ Trivia application, which made it possible to take part in live quizzes every day, by facing millions of other players to try to win money, has officially bowed out.

The young startup who had imagined the concept explains in an interview with CNN that he did not manage to exploit it commercially, nor to resell his idea to a larger company.

"There was indeed an offer to acquire" comments the owner of the start-up, Rus Yusupov, also co-founder of Vine, "but the buyer suddenly changed his decision. "

It all started well though

Launched in 2017, the application had grown rapidly, crossing the milestone of one million active users in the first month. The prices offered to users have steadily increased over the games, reaching amounts of tens of thousands of dollars.

To finance its expansion, HQ Trivia had integrated in-app purchases like extra lives, which allowed players to continue the game after missing a question.

The start-up had also launched in 2018 a second game called HQ Words, which however did not enjoy the same success.

End of last week, the 25 employees of the start-up were dismissed, after a last broadcast to say the least chaotic.
