Amazon enriches its free streaming platform - Geeko

As streaming platforms multiply and resemble each other, one might wonder if the future of streaming is not in a free plan. Several players are already experimenting with a free formula, operating on the basis of an advertising model. A concept that seems to have seduced Amazon. After Amazon Prime Video, the e-commerce giant launched the free streaming platform IMDb TV.

This name should tell you something. IMDb is the American reference site for everything related to cinema, series and actors.

The site offers visitors the opportunity to watch series and films, including Lost and Malcom , for free. For now, the service is only available in the United States, but its offer seems to attract what could push its parent company, Amazon, to deploy its offer internationally.

An agreement with Disney

IMDb TV has just concluded a license agreement with Walt Disney for 21 programs. While some are already available, notably the essential Despesrate Housewives , others will be added to the IMDb TV catalog in the coming months; Ally McBeal or Private Practice . But IMDb TV will also offer films such as Snatch , Hitch , Shrek , Ace Ventura and many others.

The only constraint for the visitor: agree to see the programs interspersed with classified ads.

Users can enjoy more or less cult series and films from the IMDb website, Amazon's Fire TV app or via the IMDb TV app available on iOS and Android.
