After the announced death of Tetris Blitz , Tetris 2011 and Tetris Premium , which will disappear in April 2020, it is time to give way to the new "Tetris". Since Thursday January 23, a new official game (and free) is available on smartphone, reports Engadget.

If the previous games were published by Electronic Arts (EA), it is now the N3TWORK studio which benefits from the license of the famous brick game on iOS and Android. No revolution in this version of the famous video game: the player must always complete lines by placing bricks of various shapes.

A battle royale mode?

"We are launching Tetris in a traditional single player mode," said Neil Young, CEO of N3TWORK. But we want fans to know that we have a lot more in store for them. Indeed, a competitive online mode should soon appear. Inspired by the global success of "Fortnite" , N3TWORK wishes to offer a battle royale version of Tetris .

In this mode, 100 players compete online. The last person in the running is declared the winner. This multiplayer mode already exists in Tetris 99 on Nintendo Switch.
