Art critic Olga Popova died at 82 years old


Professor, Department of History, Moscow State University Lomonosova, a specialist in Byzantine art Olga Popova died in Moscow at 82 years of age.

“The dean of the Faculty of History and the Department of General History of Arts report with deep regret that on January 16, 2020, Olga Sigizmundovna Popova, Doctor of Art History, Professor of the History Department of Moscow State University, Head of the Byzantine Art Sector of the State Institute of Art Studies, died in Moscow in Moscow, 82” faculty message.

Popova taught at Moscow State University for over 50 years. She studied Byzantine and Old Russian illustrated manuscripts, icons, mosaics, murals. She owns more than a hundred scientific works and 10 monographs.
