The 72.0 version of Firefox, launched on January 7, is already under serious threat. The Mozilla foundation has just announced that a critical flaw had been identified and that an update was required. All browser users are asked to upgrade to version 72.0.1, reports ZDnet .

Attacks are underway

"We are aware of ongoing targeted attacks using this flaw," said Mozilla. The vulnerability was allegedly discovered by Chinese security company Qihoo 360. It is believed to allow hackers to take control of targeted devices.

The threat is taken very seriously. The French center for monitoring, warning and responding to computer attacks has warned users. In the United States, the Cybersecurity and infrastructure security agency (CISA) also requests that the update be carried out immediately.

To check that your Firefox browser is up to date, click on Menu, then Help, then "About Firefox". The version installed on your computer then appears and the browser indicates whether it is up to date.
