Samsung has sold between 400,000 and 500,000 copies of its Galaxy Fold in the past year, director DJ Koh has announced at the CES tech fair in Las Vegas, reports South Korean news agency Yonhap . The foldable smartphone has been on the shelves since September and can be purchased in the Netherlands from Friday.
In December, a Samsung executive said at a conference that the South Korean company had sold a million copies of the Galaxy Fold. That number turned out to be incorrect: presumably the top executive confused the actual sales figures with expectations.
The Galaxy Fold has a screen of 4.6 inches on the outside. When the smartphone is unfolded, the user has a screen of 7.3 inches at his disposal. The apps on the phone must thereby automatically adjust to the new screen size.
Samsung will still sell the Galaxy Fold in the Netherlands after the smartphone giant came back earlier to the promise to bring the device here on the market. The smartphone will cost 2,020 euros.
