Australia is burning. The fires that started around October last year haven't been extinguished for over four months.

Unrealistic red skies appeared all over Australia, and yellow smoke covered New Zealand's sky 1,600 kilometers away from Australia.

To date, wildfires have killed 24 people, and nearly 500 million wild animals have been killed. The New South Wales Fire and Disaster Prevention Agency announced today that "150 forests are burning at the same time, 64 of which are out of control."

Most of these wildfires are estimated to be spontaneous ignition caused by dry lightning. But forest fires are not easily caught because of climate change. The Australian wildfires are summarized along with the current situation why and why not.
