Intel presents the computer of the future - Geeko

After smartphones, here is the era of foldable PCs. Intel took advantage of the CES in Las Vegas to present its computer of the future; the Horseshoes Bend. It is a laptop computer with an OLED screen that completely covers the inside of the PC. A concept that should become popular in the years to come.

The Intel prototype is equipped with a 17.3-inch diagonal OLED touch screen. Obviously foldable, the PC behaves like a conventional laptop since it folds in half. The display is made on both parts of the device without distinction and the mechanical keyboard is replaced by a virtual keyboard.

To enjoy a video displayed in full screen, the PC can be positioned horizontally using a stand.

The Horseshoe Bend embeds the new Intel Tiger Lake architecture of only 10 nm. A chip that allows the computer to measure only 7 mm thick. Beyond this component, Intel has revealed little information regarding its prototype foldable screen PC. Only members of the Intel team were allowed to touch the device, as our colleagues at The Verge point out. Difficult to get an idea of the hinge designed by Intel and the feel for use therefore.

The competition is already there

Upstream of the chip giant, Lenovo had also presented its vision of the foldable PC with the ThinkPad X1 Fold 1. It also presented better finishes than that of Intel which is still only a prototype. But the ThinkPad X1 Fold was closer to a foldable tablet PC with its 13 inches, than a real laptop.

The model presented by Intel is of course only a prototype aimed at framing the future developments of the manufacturers who collaborate with the company. It will potentially be necessary to wait one to two years before seeing foldable models land at Dell, Acer, Lenovo or HP.
