The following is prepared by our Data Journalism team bookmakers for the Chuseok holiday. Drinking and driving is heavier than ever, and enforcement standards are tighter, but there are still people who drink and drive. This year, 130 people died in drunk driving accidents until July.

South Korea drunk driving murder report, let's see the case first and continue the story.

On the morning of February 22, a drunk car runs away.

The driver, who was drunk at 0.137% blood alcohol, killed 19-year-old Cha Tae-hyun, who was crossing the street.

[Lee Kyung-jae / Chan Tae-hyun Cha survivor: We think it would have been enough to see the child if the driver had some awareness or awareness.]

The perpetrator has been punished for drunk driving more than 10 years ago.

The first Yoon Chang-ho Act was put in place so that people could be sentenced to imprisonment if they were hit by a drunkard, but by the end of July this year, 130 lives were lost.

As you have just seen, the person who drunk and drove in the accident was fine but hiding the victim was a murder charge. How many people have died unintentionally due to someone's fault, data analyst reporter Ahn Hye-min analyzed all the deaths caused by drunk driving in the last 12 years.

<Reporter>

We have investigated how drunk driving deaths have occurred.

This is the last 12 years since 2007 with the traffic accident analysis system.

The number of drunk driving deaths was over 7,700, and more than 8,300 people were killed, such as Cha Tae-Hyun.

Last year alone, drinking fatalities were similar to murders.

The victim was unfortunately dead, but we did a separate analysis of cases where the offender was not injured or only injured.

14% were injured, not hurt at all.

That's 47 percent combined.

Half of all drunk driving deaths were victims.

In this 12-year drunk driving fatality, 3,899 victims died.

After the Yoon Chang-ho Act was implemented, we analyzed how much it has changed. Since the first Yoon Chang-ho Act was enforced in December, the number of drunk driving detections has been reduced to two consecutive months.

But from March, it grew and returned to last year's level in two months.

In June, the 2nd Yoon Chang Ho Act was implemented. Again, drunk driving slowed in July, the month immediately following implementation.

August data was not yet available, so we could not confirm, but I hope the results will be different from the previous' Yang Chang-ho 'law', when the drunk driving increased.

Even though we said that we should not drink and drive, why did we not drink drunk driving that threatens not only ourselves but also the lives of others? We asked the people who were caught drinking and driving and why.

This was organized by reporter Shim Young-gu.

[Drink driving driver: (Why did you drink so much?) Because I drunk and drunk, I drunk and drunk.]

[Drunk driving caught: 'I didn't take it last time, but this time will be fine', I think I have this idea.]

In 2017, when the Korea Institute of Transportation Science surveyed those who were criminally punished for drunk driving, they asked how many times they have had drunk driving experience in the last three years.

The police have been caught one or two times, but they usually drink more than that and take the steering wheel.

Why are you driving drunk like this?

[Drunk driving caught: The idea of 'I won't take it' was dominant.]

[Drunk driving caught: alcohol, alcohol (normal) thoughts are diluted a lot, okay, no accident, no crackdown (I think.)]

Many respondents said that drinking alcohol had no problems with driving, and that they were not or less likely to be cracked.

[Soo-Yeon Song / Principal Researcher, Korea Road Traffic Authority: I think there is a fundamental misconception about drinking. Repeated drunk drivers still remain at that number.

As the total number of drunk driving caught has declined, it is time to focus policy on those who are habitually drunk.

Drunk driving habits require special measures such as mandating a drunk driving prevention device that does not start when drinking and drinking.
