Google has halted the distribution of the latest update to Chrome for Android. After the update, users lost data from apps that use the WebView framework, such as the Twitter Lite app.

It is not clear which apps and which users are most affected by the error. The problem would have arisen because some data had to be moved to new locations.

That did not go well in all cases. The data still exists, but is no longer accessible to users.

Fifty percent of all Chrome users have already installed the new update. Google is now pausing the rollout. It will take at least a week for the company to correct the error.
