Sybel is an application that allows you to listen to podcasts and audio series, and it pleases. Google Play has just designated this French creation as "best app of the year 2019", especially by acknowledging the diversity of its original content, available in open access.

"She surprised and delighted us all year long, well thought out and well executed, Sybel is the app of the year 2019." This is how Google's store justified its choice to distinguish this French application. The application is completely free and accessible on a simple registration, it claims to date 750,000 active users and has just been devoted by Google Play. A choice whose platform welcomed on Twitter.

Contacted by Europe 1, this Thursday, the founder of the application, Virginie Maire pointed out in Culture-Médias that she and her team are "very proud of this distinction", especially after only "six months of existence". This 25-employee start-up raised 5 million euros at the beginning of the year to finance its launch.

A "wide choice of exclusive content"

In its explanation, Google also welcomes "the wide choice of exclusive content, as well as the inevitable offline mode - ideal for escape during daily commutes."

At the microphone of Philippe Vandel, Virginie Maire explained, last November, the reasons for its success. Sybel is particularly "a very strong alternative for children" in audio programs, with more than "300 hours" of programs for children and 15,000 children users. This is particularly the Christmas tales period with for example The Christmas legend, a series declined in 24 episodes, as an Advent calendar.

The catalog also features thrillers, science fiction, etc. Side podcasts, there are productions of Arte Radio and also, exclusively on Sybel, the original series of Europe 1, Behind the Wall , dedicated to the 30 years of the fall of the Berlin Wall.
