Misleading advertisements on Facebook with Dutch celebrities who would promote bitcoin can be reported in the Netherlands from December. Facebook makes a form available as a test in which users can raise these kinds of advertisements, the company says on Marketingfacts .
Facebook has to deal with advertisements worldwide in which Dutch celebrities have allegedly invested in bitcoin. In the Netherlands, John de Mol, presenter Matthijs van Nieuwkerk and singer Waylon are among the victims of this deception.
The form that will be tested in the Netherlands from December is already in use in the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand. Facebook calls users' reports "essential" to track fraudulent advertisements.
A group of ten Dutch celebrities shared a statement in October calling on Facebook to take action. De Mol complained to Facebook in August in an attempt to force the company to act harder. The ruling in the court case will follow on Monday.
