In Poitiers, a 26-year-old opera singer looks like a Castafiore in a downtown building. Her fifteen neighbors seized the court of Poitiers Wednesday to silence her. "I am verbatized all the time, there were almost thirty police interventions and I was even in custody for sound aggression," says the singer.

REPORTAGE

This is a new neighborhood conflict reported by the New Republic : a singer of 26 years, convinced to have "a gift of God", spends his days doing vocalizations accompanied by his piano. Two hours of vocalizations in the late morning, two hours in the evening. His fifteen neighbors in the building complain about the sound volume. "I do not call it singing but shouting," says a neighbor. "She can not stand it anymore, she does not understand that she's bothering the entire building, there are even some who have moved!"

The singer has been in custody for "sound aggression"

After an attempt at mediation, the exhausted neighbors took the case to court on Wednesday. They ask the magistrate of Poitiers to silence the passion for opera and operettas under penalty of 800 euros per musical incarnation. "I am verbatized all the time, there were almost thirty police interventions and I was even in custody for sound aggression," annoyed the singer, Françoise Courroux. "I do not understand this doggedness."

The young woman continues to study music at the Conservatory of Poitiers also performs on stage in a troupe. She is now repeating The Grand Duchess of Gerolstein. Her husband practices the clarinet as an amateur. Until justice settles in two weeks, the couple is already preparing to move.
