Several trade unions and associations have issued a statement denouncing "serious institutional failures in the face of acts of physical and sexual violence" in the establishment concerned.

Three teenagers were indicted for raping a meeting at a 13-year-old girl in a residence next door to the college where they were educated in Toulouse, according to concordant sources.

"The rape complaint was filed 15 days ago"

One of the young men, now 16 years old, "recognizes the sex but denies any constraint," told AFP one of his lawyers, Brice Zanin. He was indicted for "rape at a meeting in March" and then for another "rape in October 2019" on a second victim, he said. According to local media, a third schoolgirl was a victim of sexual assault. The schoolgirl, who lodged a complaint for rape at a meeting, "has meanwhile changed institutions, following a physical assault she suffered in September from young girls," AFP told AFP. Clémence Doumenc.

It was only after this assault that the parents learned that their daughter had been raped, "when a member of the (college) education team informed them," said the lawyer. . "The rape complaint was filed 15 days ago (October 14, ed) and the three boys were arrested and indicted a few days later," she added. They were placed under judicial control, with the prohibition of approaching the girl and going to college.

Trade unions denounce "failures"

Several unions and associations, including the CGT Educ 'action 31 and Sud Education 31 released Tuesday a joint statement, denouncing "serious institutional failures in the face of acts of physical and sexual violence at the College Lamartine Toulouse. They implicate "all or part" of the management of the institution and the rectorate which, according to them, had "been aware of these acts, without ever taking any measure of protection of the victims".

"We are scandalized by the law's disregard for the institution while videos circulated widely on social networks. (...) The fact of letting this situation degenerate led to recidivism, including "other victims", they accuse, calling for a rally Monday at noon in front of the college Toulouse. On the possibility that the school was aware, Me Doumenc says: "This is a big question mark. For the moment the parents (of the girl) do not complain, waiting for that everyone explains himself ".
