Over the past two decades, the rate of male obesity has increased significantly due to changes in eating habits.

According to the 2018 National Health and Nutrition Examination Report published by the Ministry of Health and Welfare, the prevalence of obesity in adult men last year was 42.8%, up nearly 70% from 25.1% in 1998 when it first began.

On the other hand, women's obesity rate was 25.5%, down from 26.2% 20 years ago.

Last year, the smoking rate of adult males was 36.7%, almost half that of 66.3% of male smokers 20 years ago, while the adult female smoking rate was 7.5%, slightly higher than the 1998 figure of 6.5%.
