If you are a daily mass, a Sunday practitioner or even a tourist fond of sacred temples, even if you are an agnostic of thought, from now on you will find a new element in the heart of the churches: the digital brush. Yes, you read it right. Donations to religious centers, NGOs and charities can also be made in the coming months in bulk with credit cards or from mobile phones and watches with NFC ( contactless ) technology.

More than 4,000 entities throughout Spain are preparing to host this new collaborative payment system that can improve the funds of their social projects thanks to their digitalization. Banco Sabadell has been the pioneer in the development of these solidarity datáfonos, baptized with the name of Done , and that have been distributed in a first phase by more than 240 parishes by the Alicante company Necomplus.

In the form of a lectern or even a lampadario, digital donation is invited both in the cathedrals of Madrid or Valencia and in different neighborhood congregations throughout the national territory. Unlike physical donations, which also remain integrated in each electronic model, payments are always less than 20 euros with predefined amounts on the screen of 2, 5, 10 and 15 euros . In this way, the payment action is also simplified by avoiding entering the PIN code of the credit card holder.

"It is an easy and intuitive service to avoid the exclusion of any type of public and puts the beneficiary institutions at the center of the operations," said the business director of religious institutions at Banco Sabadell, Santiago Portas.

The bank charges a monthly rent of between four and seven euros per unit . While each payment transaction has a commission similar to that of a commercial sale: 0.30% (3 cents of every 10 euros are for the bank) and 1.80% for cards outside the European Union.

"It is a linking project, to help the client, it is not to make the bank profitable. It has a minimum cost that covers the operating expenses of the system . Virtually the entire donation goes to the different causes," adds Portas.

More than 400 million euros are donated anonymously each year in Spain , a figure that digital business experts estimate will have an upward trend in the coming years. In fact, during the first months of testing virtual brushes have increased their usual collections between 20% and 25% with an average ticket of 8.67 euros.

On the other hand, Sabadell has just added a last product to the Done family. It is a digital piggy bank for cost that has a rechargeable battery with an autonomy of 12 hours. Its exterior design replicates the traditional models speeding up the fundraising work for non-profit associations, foundations or in solidarity campaigns within companies.

With these individual and easily transportable equipment, the solidarity entities ensure a rapid transfer of the funds raised. In addition, greater security for volunteers against possible theft . It should be noted that the Spanish Association Against Cancer has as its second annual source of income this type of piggy bank to piggy bank actions that are carried out periodically at street level.

Donations provided through these telematic systems can also be deducted in the annual IRPF campaign . Upon request of the holder to the managing center or using the QR codes attached to the piggy banks and lecterns, the receipt of the donated amount can also be processed. The relief reaches up to 75% for the first 150 euros and 30% for the rest of the contributions.
