Niantic has announced a feature that allows Pokémon Go players around the world to fight each other online. The developer announced the new function in a blog.

The new feature is called Go Battle League and allows players to compete against each other online in Pokémon battles. However, players still have to go outside to gain access to these fights, Niantic emphasizes.

Players could fight each other in the game if they were close to each other. Friends who often played the game together could also fight each other remotely. Now it is possible to play against any player around the world through an online system.

A ranking list is also added to the game for the most fanatic players. That way you can see who wins the most Pokémon battles worldwide.

The online battles work with the same fighting system as the battles against passers-by and friends. Go Battle League is available from the beginning of 2020.
