More than two tons of cannabis pollen were seized earlier this week in an old train station, north of Orleans. The suspects have been arrested and indicted, said the prosecutor Nicolas Bessone.

It is a rare drug seizure that the gendarmes of Loiret have succeeded. On the night of Monday to last Tuesday, the investigators of the research section of Orleans with the support of the GIGN have invested an old station in Chilleurs-aux-Bois, near Pithiviers, in the Loiret. It was in the countryside, hidden from view that the traffickers had settled. On the spot, the gendarmes seized more than 2 tons of pollen of cannabis. A product much purer and more powerful than cannabis resin. The market value of the seized stock reaches 20 million euros on resale.

"Pleasure to offer" or "joy to receive"

This building had been transformed by traffickers into a drug repackaging laboratory. On site, the suspects spent up to ten consecutive days re-powdering 4.5 kg loaves of cannabis pollen. The drug was then packaged in 100-gram sachets, decked out with "pleasure of giving" or "joy of receiving" labels, according to Europe 1 Orleans prosecutor Nicolas Bessone. "It's something very new and very special about cannabis," he says.

Six people indicted

Six people, aged 21 to 41 years and living in the region, were arrested and indicted, announced at a press conference the prosecutor of the Republic on Friday. Among them is the alleged leader of the network, a 35-year-old man, already convicted in 2008 in a case of drug trafficking investigated by the magistrates of the Paris JIRS.

The investigation of the gendarmes of the research section of Orleans began last March and continued under the direction of an investigating judge after the opening of a criminal investigation in August.
