The wizard Javi Rufo: "With a wand in hand, children are in great danger" DANIEL IZEDDIN

His story is not that of a child who dreamed of magic. Nor was he a tireless observer of Juan Tamariz's tricks. Chance, great skills - juggling from an early age with great skill - numerous hours of work and, above all, dedication and passion led Javi Rufo to take the path of magic and today his shows are among the Top rated in Madrid.

At 18, by chance, she first approached the world of magic when a friend from school proposed: "One day she asked me: 'Hey Javi, would you like to do magic?' And I said to myself, who wouldn't like to do impossible things? Everyone at some point would want to be a magician. His father used to do magic and started giving me information, "Rufo recalls. "My story with magic has nothing to do with the admiration of a specific wizard or the fascination with the game Magic Borras. They were more like learning and surpassing me , I have always been very brave to do new things," points.

And although he began to study Mathematics to finally finish Statistics it was during the faculty years when, together with some colleagues, he gave impulse to this hobby . "If one day a classmate arrived with a trick to class, the next day I wanted to show a better one. We were very competitive and encouraged each other. This made us learn and grow in magic at high speed," says the Wizard.

But it was not until 2012, when Rufo already a professor of mathematics at different training centers and lifeguard in summer, he was proclaimed winner in a television contest, Uno para Ganar , of the Cuatro network and invested in his dream, magic. "I received a small amount of money when I won the program and I was able to make the decision to dedicate my effort and my work to magic," he acknowledges.

An effort that has allowed him to win the 2019 National Manipulation Prize , one of the most complicated disciplines, and the 2019 National Children's Magic Prize of the National Magic Congress. "My girl, Dania Díaz, who also works in magic, encouraged me to introduce myself to both calls to which magicians usually go to show the best magic games. I worked very hard for three months in which I barely left home but It was worth it because I could get those two guild awards, "he says.

That same manipulation routine, which made him win the National Prize, is the one he presents today, among many other surprises and hilarious magic games, in the fourth season of his show 1, 2, 3 ... Magic ! in the Little Gran Vía Theater in Madrid. A function designed to enjoy with the family , in which both adults and children for 70 minutes are transferred to the world of the unreal, of the illusion , in which everything is possible by the hand of this true 'showman'.

For the magician there is nothing more satisfying than working creating his own games and routines, and also receiving recognition and applause from the public for it. "Can you imagine what it is to get applause every time you work? There is nothing more comforting," says Rufo, who highlights how wonderful it is to generate those sensations in the spectators and see the enthusiasm on the faces of the spectators, especially in that of the children.

Because in 1,2, 3 ... Magic! The smallest are the real stars: " Boys and girls are the absolute protagonists of the function and it is they who take all the glory of the actions carried out on stage. I teach them and guide them to feel like little little by little they do the magic. Children with a wand in their hands are very dangerous, "says Rufo.

"The adults usually come more relaxed because in principle they think they come as spectators until the magic surprises them. In the end they end up getting totally involved in the show and they spend it even better than the children who come predisposed to interact. But 1, 2, 3 ... Magic! It is designed for everyone to enjoy themselves equally. And have something clear, if you come you will all shout with me: 1, 2, 3 ... Magic! "Says the magician.

But the show is not just behind the curtain. After the show you can access what the magician calls the secret area through a code that consists of a unique experience of tricks, crafts, etc. to share with family
