Soon, it will be possible to understand up to twelve languages in real time, as if we had subtitles in real life eventually. A lecture in Japanese? As in the cinema, the translation will be displayed as and when in glasses connected. So far, such a device belonged to science fiction. And yet, these connected glasses will be marketed this month. This new technological gem is the result of a partnership between connected glasses manufacturer Vuzix and meeting transcription specialist Zoi Meet.
700 euros the pair of glasses
The wifi, applications ... Everything is grouped in the glasses. The phone only serves to manage options and settings more easily. In reality, this device works as if a mini-computer was integrated into the branches of the glasses and that the screen was projected in front of the right eye of the customer.
This technology is however very expensive since the pair of glasses costs 700 euros. They will first be sold to companies for conferences and for international meetings. Because these glasses are however much less expensive than a translator. Prices should decline, however, as we have seen in recent years with smartphones or smart watches, which have seen their prices decline over the years. In fact, translation could become the first truly interesting use for connected glasses. Google had indeed suspended the marketing of its glasses connected in 2015, having not found them any definite function.
