A 12-year-old was hit dead by a train late Sunday in Albertville (Savoie), the prosecutor said Monday, confirming information from the regional press. The victim was on the train tracks with several comrades of the same age, safe and sound. A police investigation was opened to clarify the circumstances of the accident.
"The children are shocked and have not yet been heard," told AFP Monday morning the prosecutor of the Republic in Albertville, Anne Gaches. The accident occurred around 6 pm on Sunday near a level crossing, which is currently blocked because of work on the track that imposed a reduced speed on the TER.
