The rector of Moscow State University Viktor Sadovnichy, who took part in the work of the festival’s Moscow venue, spoke about this in an interview with RT.

“This holiday was a success because 6,000 events are now taking place across the country, in which 2.5 million Russians are participating,” he said.

According to Sadovnichy, the purpose of the festival is to interest children in science, so that in the future they will devote their lives to it.

“The festival of science is a holiday that we conceived for young children, schoolchildren, so that, while still young, they would see miracles that happen, and, accordingly, in the future they would devote their lives, including to science,” said the rector of Moscow State University .

In 2020, NAUKA 0+ will be held for the 15th time. Sadovnichy noted that this would be the anniversary of the festival, so the organizers will try to make it special.

“The 15th festival will be anniversary. Together with the Academy of Sciences, it is necessary to think over the holiday so that it is even more beautiful, significant and attractive. I think there will be surprises, ”he said.

Led by Sadovnichy Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov is the initiator of this festival. He first passed in 2006 at Moscow State University. Since 2011, the scientific forum received the All-Russian status and began to be held under the auspices of the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia.

The main theme of NAUKA 0+ this year was the 150th anniversary of the opening of the Periodic Law of Chemical Elements by Dmitry Mendeleev. In honor of the anniversary date, the UN General Assembly declared 2019 the International Year of the Periodic Table of Chemical Elements.

The central regional venues of the festival in 2019 were Tverskaya, Kursk, Novosibirsk, Rostov, Nizhny Novgorod regions and the Trans-Baikal Territory. The results of the All-Russian Science Festival 2019 will be summed up in the Krasnoyarsk Territory.
