A new historical section called “Lights of Free Riga” has been created on the ministry’s website, which contains declassified documents from the funds of the Central Archive of the Ministry of Defense.

The section contains the plan of the Riga offensive operation, magazines of military operations, political reports, award documents, as well as evidence of the atrocities of the Nazi invaders in Latvian territory. Also in the section there are newspaper publications that convey the solemn atmosphere of the liberation of Riga in October 1944.

Including the site published a memorandum of the commander of the Leningrad Front, Marshal of the Soviet Union Leonid Govorov Joseph Stalin.

In July, the Ministry of Defense declassified the documents on the liberation of Vilnius. In September, documents on the liberation of Tallinn were published.
