“A new generation transport ship, according to the terms of reference, is designed to fly to near-Earth and beyond near-Earth orbit, including to the Moon,” Roscosmos press service quoted RIA Novosti as the source.

The universal version will be developed instead of developing separate versions for flights to low Earth orbit and to the moon.

The state corporation also noted that the new spacecraft should ensure the safe return of the crew to Earth at a second space speed.

On September 9, Dmitry Rogozin, head of the Roskosmos state corporation, announced that flight tests of the Orel spacecraft were planned to be completed in 2028.
