Google is releasing a subscription service for games and apps called Play Pass in the United States this week, the company announced on its blog on Monday. The service, with which users can play games on their Android smartphone for a fixed amount per month, will later also be available in other countries.

In the United States, the service will cost $ 4.99 (more than 4.50 euros) per month. For that amount, users get access to 350 apps. The games in question are not provided with in-app purchases and also contain no advertisements.

In addition to mobile games, subscribers also have access to other apps, such as the Moon + Reader Pro book app and the AccuWeather weather app. According to Google, new apps and games are added to the Play Pass library every month.

It is unclear whether Play Pass will also be released in the Netherlands and how much the service will cost in that case. has submitted that question to Google, but has not yet received an answer.

Apple released its own gaming service for iOS devices on Thursday: Apple Arcade. There too, users get access to games for a fixed amount per month, without ads and additional costs.
