Two 28-year-old men were indicted Monday in Montpellier for their alleged responsibility in the fatal accident that cost the life of a pregnant woman overthrown in the night from Friday to Saturday, said a judicial source.

The two men were indicted for aggravated manslaughter and destruction of evidence, said deputy prosecutor Dominique Sié. The prosecutor's office also requested the detention of the two men.

On the night of Friday to Saturday, a young pregnant woman died after being hit on the Boulevard de la Liberté by a vehicle, driven by one of the two indicted. After the accident, he had fled, before going to the police station on the morning of Saturday. His vehicle had been found a few kilometers away, burned. The second defendant is suspected of helping the driver burn the vehicle. A judicial inquiry was opened.
