More than two hundred illegal pay-TV servers were taken offline on Wednesday in various European countries, including the Netherlands.
The servers were used to offer illegal, paid streaming services for a much lower amount than legal providers such as Netflix.
The investigation was started by the Italian police. Because the providers were located in several countries, they collaborated with authorities from different European countries. The cooperation was led by Eurojust.
Eurojust has 22 suspects in sight, but has not arrested anyone yet. 150 PayPal accounts have been blocked. According to Eurojust, the damage to legal providers of paid videos is around € 6.5 million.
