“The new Russian lunar program is designed until 2040 and is divided into three stages,” the state corporation said.

As part of the first phase, called “Sally,” it is planned to test all the technologies on the ISS. It is planned to put the base module of the new station into orbit of the moon, and send automatic vehicles to the Earth’s satellite itself.

During the second stage, called "Outpost", the astronauts are scheduled to land on the moon, as well as the creation of the first elements of the visited base.

At the same time, the main, third stage is the Baza, within the framework of which it is expected to build a lunar base, deliver equipment for drilling, and create experimental mining and production complexes. It is also planned to create an astrophysical observatory.

Earlier, Roskosmos declassified documents on the Soviet lunar program.
