Cuesta gives life to Julia, a woman who thinks she has everything under control.

The actress stars in 'Living twice', a road movie with Alzheimer's and the use of new technologies as a backdrop

In Living twice , Inma Cuesta (Valencia, 1980) gives life to Julia. Married to Felipe (Nacho López), a guy who seeks to make a living as a coach with whom he has not understood for a long time, he is worried about the memory losses Emilio (Óscar Martínez), his father, has. He, a retired university professor, has begun to become obsessed with a girl he fell in love with when he was very young. Now, a long time later, try to resume contact with her without even knowing what her whereabouts will be or if she will be alive. To do this, he must rely on the advice given by his granddaughter Blanca (Mafalda Carbonell), a young language who, like all the boys of his age, manages well with mobiles.

« Living twice is neither drama nor comedy. It is rather a dramedia in which María Ripoll, its director, has tried to address the issue of Alzheimer's through a road movie that talks about many other issues. My grandmother said that "there is no wedding without crying or wakefulness without laughter." And that is a truth like a temple that serves to explain that you can live comic situations in very dramatic moments ».

With respect to the dramatic burden that this film presents, the actress of The Sleeping Voice or The Bride explains the consequences that the adventure that lives in family has for her character. «For Julia, the personal trip she makes helps her realize that she has been maintaining a lie and a family structure for some time that does not make her happy. She is a woman in a strong and confident appearance, who seems to have everything under control. But as the story progresses, it falls apart. That speaks of always having the opportunity to live differently and it is never too late to make decisions that change things.

Cuesta shares scenes with veteran Oscar Martinez and debutant Mafalda Carbonell, daughter of showman Pablo Carbonell. «Mafalda has everything to learn but has something wonderful that is intuition, spark and an innocent look. On the other hand, Oscar stands out for his wisdom, knowing how to be and extensive experience. I knew him after working together in Captain Koblic . It has been an inspiration and, at the same time, a gift that Oscar Martínez makes of my father in fiction ».

In the movie, mobiles have an omnipresence in the plot. «It seems to me a success that its use is not demonized. In their fair measure, they can be a good tool. Here it is shown through three generations: Emilio, who has no idea how to use them; Blanca, my daughter, who is obsessed and who are like her God, and my character, who is in between. I am surprised at the slavery we have with mobile phones when I see families, couples or friends who, instead of talking to each other, are looking at their screens. It is very slave and you can live without them. If we have always done it ... why not now? "I like them" seems like a ridiculous obsession that doesn't interest me »
