The US technology company Apple publicly apologized this Wednesday for the action of its digital assistant Siri, who shared user listening with quality control workers .
"We realize that we have not been fulfilling our high ideals, and that is why we apologize," Apple said in a publicly released note.
"We have decided to make some changes in Siri" as a result of concerns expressed about the rating program, the company added.
These modifications include new rules for the review of user conversations , which will only be used when customers voluntarily subscribe to the "Siri Graduation" program, which seeks to improve the performance of voice recognition software.
Apple also promised to delete the recordings used by the review program.
"Our goal with Siri, the pioneering intelligent assistant, is to provide the best experience for our customers while protecting their privacy," Apple said.
Computer generated transcripts will continue to be used to improve the software's ability to understand what people say and want to say, the company said.
Apple suspended the listening program after the news that contractors had accessed audios with confidential medical information, criminal treatment and even sexual encounters.
Due to complaints and similar versions about the invasion of user privacy, Google and Amazon have also announced changes in their digital assistant programs linked to artificial intelligence.
